Rol: teacher English classes
Geeft les op: Monday at Hart-Haarlem
Lori Copperman Evans (teaching English language drama courses for Mamagaai) is a piano teacher and musician, children's theater director, and writer and composer of things mostly for, or about, children. She has a music degree from the University of Maryland, USA, and has taught piano for over 25 years and continues to do so from her home studio in Haarlem Noord. Some of her experiences include:
- working at Adventure Theatre, Washington DC's longest-running children's theater, as a music director/pianist/sound designer for productions where adults performed for children, as well as working in their summer theater camp for kids.
- running a homeschooling cooperative theater group in West Virginia where she was responsible for everything and a play was performed each year for friends and parents and sometimes other schools.
- music directing and assisting with shows at the Greenbrier Valley Theater, West Virginia, on the main stage as well as in their PBandJ Cafe where teens and adults performed for children, and in their education division where each year teens ages 14-18 performed a classic musical, such as Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls, and Oklahoma.
- here in Amsterdam, Lori has played piano or music-directed a number of shows for English language theater groups, most recently music-directing Happily Ever After Productions Cinderella, performed at the Zonnehuis Theater in March of 2024.
After living in a variety of places in the US, Lori and her husband, Andrew, suddenly decided to move their family to The Netherlands 8 years ago. Charmed by her new surroundings, but missing family and friends far away, Lori was inspired to write her first picture book about keeping connections - entitled The Voyage of Aart Aap, this book will be published by Boekscout in April of 2024. Lori also loves gardening, cooking, riding her bike, snuggling her two kitties, and crocheting cuddly animals to give as gifts.
